Currently, until we can meet again at 400 Sparks St., Sunday Worship services are being conducted through the Zoom application. Information about each service is distributed via e-mail to the congregation mailing list. To be added, please send an e-mail to the church office to register your e-mail.
Here are some tips and tricks for using Zoom when connecting to a meeting hosted by St. Peter’s.
First, if you have never used Zoom before, here is a brief tutorial video showing how to install Zoom on your PC and connect to a meeting: Zoom Tutorial.
Information specific to St. Peter’s:
- A link for each meeting is in the e-mail invite. Click on that to connect directly and you’ll just need to enter the password.
- If you have already started Zoom on your computer, you can click on “Join meeting” and enter the Meeting ID listed in the e-mail, followed by the password.
- We are using the password feature for enhanced security, to minimize the risk of an unknown person trying to disrupt the meeting. As Zoom security improves, we can explore ways to make the meeting more open. The password is not there to restrict access, but to make those participating in the meeting more comfortable.
- The password is case-sensitive.
Accessing via a telephone:
It is possible to join a Zoom meeting from a regular telephone. The e-mail will provide a telephone number to call. Unfortunately, Zoom does not have a local number in the Ottawa area. The closest is in Toronto. Long distance charges may apply depending on your plan. To find alternate numbers in different area codes, click here and scroll down to Canada.
- You will be prompted to enter first the meeting ID, then the password (a series of digits). Both of these are in the e-mail.
- You may be prompted to enter a participant ID. We are not using that feature, press #.
- During worship services, all participants are muted on entry.
- Press *6 to un-mute yourself and *6 to mute again (it’s a toggle)
